Access prequalified suppliers
Local Buy prequalified supply arrangements enable State Government authorities to benefit from the aggregated purchasing power of Queensland Councils. Specifically, State Government customers are eligible to access a suite of more than 40 Local Buy supply arrangements established for Local Governments in Queensland.
Local Buy Contracts and Suppliers include a range of mega-categories including goods and services, fleet, works and energy.
Most State Government departments, a number of government owned corporations and about 60 statutory bodies sourced goods and/or services from one or more Local Buy supply arrangements in 2015-2016.
Access a large supply base
Access to Local Buy contracts allows State Government customers to access supply arrangements that may not be available at State Government level, as well as a large, geographically-dispersed supply base.
This is mainly because Local Buy’s supply arrangements cater primarily to Local Government functions, as well as a geographically spread Local Government customer base with a focus on developing competitive local business and industry.
Local Buy supply arrangements enable State Government authorities to reduce their procurement risks, save time and reduce costs, through access to competitive quotes and staff costs. Improved contract quality and governance also are benefits of sourcing goods and services via Local Buy.
State Government procurement policy
The Queensland State Government has published advice on its procurement website to the effect that, in the absence of a whole-of-government or agency arrangement to suit your agency’s needs, Local Buy is a good starting point. Access this advice via the State Government website.
Local Buy supply arrangements are either preferred supplier arrangements or registers of pre-qualified suppliers. Both of these fall within the definition of ‘standing offer arrangement’ under the Queensland Procurement Policy.
Access contracts and suppliers
State Government authorities can access Local Buy Contracts and Suppliers via this list, which is updated each fortnight.
