It’s been another busy month for the Engagement Team with Local Buy representatives travelling from Kingaroy to Bundaberg and as far north as Thursday Island!

Audrey Dobell attended the Regional Construction Industry Forum for BOTH Civil and Building Construction Industries, coordinated by Department of Treaty, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island Partnerships, Communities and the Arts (DATSIP) in Bamaga and Thursday Island to engage with suppliers about our exciting new Civil and Construction Arrangements. Other stakeholders in attendance Included Queensland Government Departments, QLeave, QBuild, Ergon Energy, Workplace Health and Safety, TAFE Queensland QBCC, and CSQ.

Jeremy Walker & Liz McFarlan attended the Growing Queensland Roadshow in Bundaberg and took the opportunity to visit several councils on the way home including Noosa, Sunshine Coast and Gympie.

Emma Peters has been engaging with councils across the North and presenting online to Procurement Professionals from councils in the Northern Territory too.

Our Welcome Session for new Local Buy Pre-Qualified Suppliers took place both face-to-face and online on 21st February with bumper attendees. It’s fantastic to see that suppliers are embracing the unique opportunity that Local Buy brings to their organisation.

Looking forward to March, we will hold our first Procurement Summit of the year in Cairns on 21stst and it’s shaping up to be a great day with over 30 delegates registered to attend.  If your council would like to host Supplier Sessions, please reach out.

Plans are well underway for the Local Buy Advancing Queensland Procurement Conference which is taking place in Brisbane between the 7th and 9th August 2024 with two keynote speakers already confirmed to educate, inform, and entertain our delegates.  Now is the time to be seeking permission to travel down to attend the conference, which will provide a wealth of knowledge for everyone involved in procuring on behalf of council.
