How to Procure
How to Procure through Local Buy
While Local Buy’s exemption in the Local Government Regulation negates the need to perform tender or quotes, many councils wish to obtain pricing from suppliers when procuring goods and services.
There are two distinct ways of engaging Local Buy Suppliers.
Direct
Purchasers can engage directly with suppliers by quoting the Local Buy Contract Number on their Purchase Orders. It is always beneficial to ensure our supplier understand when they are being engaged through a Local Buy Supplier Arrangement.
You can find a list of Local Buy's pre-qualified suppliers here.
Request for Quote
Purchasers can obtain a Request for Quote (RFQ) through email or through our free online procurement platform, VendorPanel.
VendorPanel Training Video
VendorPanel offers our customers a fast, efficient and fraud-free procurement method.
VendorPanel also enables our customers to review detailed information about our suppliers, including viewing their capabilities, insurance documentation and for some arrangement pricing schedules.
Generally, in Local Government procurement, issuing an RFQ to multiple parties is the preferred route to market. This is because it offers a fair and open competition while ensuring you get the best solution and competitive pricing for your needs.
Pricing
Some Local Buy Arrangements have pre-determined pricing schedules. The pricing provided by our suppliers is the maximum they can charge you when engaging through a Local Buy Arrangement.
